American Ice Cream - Lip Balm Flavour Oil
American Ice Cream - Lip Balm Flavour Oil
American Ice Cream - Lip Balm Flavour Oil (Flavour for Lip Balm)
Capture the taste of a classic soft-serve cone: rich, milky and lightly sweet, with a rounded, nostalgic warmth rather than a sharp sugary edge.
It blends into creamy lip balm bases without overpowering them, giving your balm a true ice-cream-parlour character.
Stir it into your lip balm base as the base cools. Use it at 2–3% of the weight of your base, starting lower and adjusting to taste. It is an oil-based flavour oil made for lip balm and similar lip care products, and it is not sold for general food use.

How to Flavour Lip Balm
- Weigh. Weigh your lip balm base, for example 100 g from a pack of our lip balm bases.
- Melt. Melt the base gently in a double boiler or in short microwave bursts until just liquid.
- Cool slightly. Take it off the heat and let it cool for a minute or two. Adding flavour to very hot base can dull it.
- Flavour. Stir in 2–3% of the flavour oil by weight (2–3 g per 100 g of base). Start lower and test.
- Pour. Pour straight away into lip balm tubes or containers and leave to set.
Tip: Make one test tube first. Flavour strength is a matter of taste, so adjust the amount before you fill the whole batch.
Usage Starting Points ▼
These are common starting points, not fixed rules. Always test a small batch first.
| Batch | Flavour oil at 2–3% | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 50 g of base | 1–1.5 g | Enough for roughly ten 5 ml tubes. |
| 100 g of base | 2–3 g | Start with 2 g and add more if needed. |
| 500 g of base | 10–15 g | Mix well so the flavour is even through the batch. |
| Blend of two flavours | 2–3% in total | Split the amount between the two flavours. |
Add the flavour in small steps. It is easier to add more than to take it out.
Tips & Troubleshooting ▼
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Flavour is too weak | Too little added, or added when the base was too hot | Add a little more, a small amount at a time, and add it after the base has cooled slightly. |
| Flavour is too strong | More than 3% used | Start at about 1% and build up. Remake the batch with less if needed. |
| Flavour smells but is not very sweet | Flavour oils add aroma and flavour, not sweetness | Add a small amount of a lip-safe sweetener if you want a sweeter taste. |
| Oil looks separated or cloudy | Not mixed in | Stir well while the base is liquid, and before you pour. |
