Candle Dye Red Liquid Concentrated 10ml
Candle Dye Red (Liquid Concentrated 10ml)
Our Red liquid candle dye is a highly concentrated colourant for candle wax. A few drops go a long way, so it is an easy way to get strong, even colour.
Add it a little at a time to fully melted wax and stir until it is evenly mixed. It suits soy, gel, beeswax, paraffin and palm candles. Use fewer drops for lighter shades and more for deeper ones, or blend colours from the range to make your own.

How to Use Liquid Dye
- Melt the wax. Melt your wax to its recommended temperature. Never heat over a direct flame or leave it unattended.
- Add the dye. Start with a small amount (about 1-5 drops per 500 g) and add it to the fully melted wax a little at a time.
- Stir well. Stir thoroughly until the colour is even through the whole batch.
- Check the colour. Put a spoonful on a white plate and let it set. Wax looks darker when it is liquid than when it has set.
- Add fragrance. Add fragrance oil after the dye is evenly mixed, then stir gently.
- Pour. Pour at the wax's recommended pouring temperature and let the candle set undisturbed.
Dosage Guide ▼
These are starting points. Results vary with the wax, the fragrance and the container, so always make a small test batch first.
| Wax weight | Drops (approx.) |
|---|---|
| 500 g | 1-5 |
| 1 kg | 2-10 |
| 2 kg | 4-20 |
| 5 kg | 10-50 |
Use fewer drops for lighter shades. Add a little at a time until you reach the colour you want, and keep a note of the drops per weight of wax so you can repeat the colour.
Mixing Colours ▼
Blend colours from the range to make your own shades. Add a little at a time, keep a note of the drops, and test on a white plate before you pour.
| Mix | Result (approximate) |
|---|---|
| Red + Yellow | orange shades |
| Red + Blue | purples |
| Red + Black | a deeper red (add a very little) |
Browse all liquid candle dyes, or try dye chips. Results vary with the wax, so test your blend.
Tips & Troubleshooting ▼
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Colour too pale | Not enough dye | Add a few more drops, stirring well each time. |
| Streaks or uneven colour | Dye not fully mixed | Keep stirring in fully melted wax until the colour is even. |
| Colour looks different when set | Liquid wax looks darker than set wax | Test a spoonful on a white plate and let it set. |
| Very dark colours are hard to get | Deep shades need more dye | Add drops gradually. Heavy dye loads can affect the burn, so burn test. |
| Colour fades over time | Light exposure | Store finished candles away from direct sunlight. |
| Different results in a new wax | Each wax takes dye differently | Start with a small test batch and adjust the drops. |
Safety & Selling Your Products ▼
Liquid dye is for candle making only. Do not use it in soap, bath or skin-care products. Keep out of reach of children, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wear gloves when handling the dye. Wash your hands after use. Dye can stain, so protect your work area and utensils.
Molten wax can burn badly. Keep it away from children and pets, never heat it over a direct flame, never leave it unattended and do not use water on a wax fire. If you make candles, never leave a burning candle unattended and keep candles away from children, pets, draughts and anything flammable.
