Candle Dye Chips / Fuchsia (Wax Dye Chips for Candles and Wax Melts)

Our Fuchsia Candle Dye Chips are a convenient, mess-free way to colour wax. There is nothing to measure and no drops to count. Add the chips to melted wax, stir until they have dissolved completely, and you have an even, vivid fuchsia pink colour for your candles and wax melts.

They suit soy wax and paraffin, and can be used in other waxes such as coconut blends and beeswax with a little testing. Use fewer chips for lighter shades and more for deeper ones, and blend colours from the range to make your own custom tones. Each colour comes in a pack of 10 or 20 chips.

How to Use Dye Chips

  1. Melt the wax. Melt your wax in a double boiler or wax melter to its recommended pouring temperature. Never heat over a direct flame or leave it unattended.
  2. Add the chips. Drop the chips into the melted wax. Use about 2 chips per 450 g for soy and about 1 per 450 g for paraffin, then adjust for the depth of colour you want.
  3. Stir until dissolved. Stir until every chip has melted and the dye has dissolved completely. Undissolved dye can leave specks in the finished candle.
  4. Check the colour. Put a spoonful on a white plate and let it set. Wax looks darker when it is liquid than when it has set.
  5. Add fragrance. Add fragrance oil only after the dye has dissolved completely, then stir gently.
  6. Pour. Pour into your container or mould at the wax's recommended pouring temperature and let it cool undisturbed.

Tip: keep a note of the number of chips and weight of wax for every batch, so you can repeat a colour exactly.

Dosage Guide ▼

These are starting points based on soy and paraffin waxes. Results vary with the wax, the fragrance and the container, so always make a small test batch.

Wax Chips per 450 g Chips per kg (approx.)
Soy wax (deep shade) 2 4-5
Paraffin wax 1 2-2.5
Other waxes (coconut blends, beeswax, blends) 4 or more, then test 9 or more, then test

Tips & Troubleshooting ▼
Problem Likely cause What to try
Colour too pale Not enough dye, or a wax that takes colour less strongly Add more chips a few at a time, stirring until dissolved. Soy needs about double paraffin.
Specks or streaks Dye not fully dissolved Keep stirring in hot wax until every chip has dissolved before adding fragrance.
Colour looks different when set Liquid wax looks darker than set wax Test a spoonful on a white plate and let it set.
Dark colours are hard to get Very deep colours, especially black, need a lot of dye Add more chips gradually. Very heavy dye loads can affect the burn, so burn test.
Colour fades over time Light exposure Store finished candles away from direct sunlight.
Different results in a new wax Each wax and blend takes dye differently Start with a small test batch and adjust the number of chips.
Safety & Selling Your Products ▼

Dye chips are for candle making only. Do not use them in soap, bath or skin-care products. Keep out of reach of children, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wear gloves when handling the dye. Wash your hands after use. Dye can stain, so protect your work area and utensils.

Molten wax can burn badly. Keep it away from children and pets, never heat it over a direct flame, never leave it unattended and do not use water on a wax fire. If you make candles, never leave a burning candle unattended and keep candles away from children, pets, draughts and anything flammable.
