Sandalwood Essential Oil
Sandalwood Essential Oil
Sandalwood Essential Oil (Amyris balsamifera)
Sandalwood Essential Oil (Amyris balsamifera L.), also known as West Indian Sandalwood or Amyris, is steam distilled from the wood of the tree and sourced from Haiti. It is a different species from East Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album), and is valued in its own right for a soft, warm, woody aroma. It is a pale yellow to amber liquid.
Its calm, grounding woody scent is often used to help create a relaxed atmosphere in a diffuser or oil burner, and it is a popular base note in natural perfumery, where it adds depth and helps anchor lighter notes. In skincare and massage blends it is traditionally included for its pleasant aroma and its place in skin-conditioning formulations.
