Nutmeg Essential Oil (Myristica fragrans) is steam distilled from the kernels of the nutmeg seed, producing a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a light, fresh, warm, sweet-spicy aroma. Its cozy, comforting character has made it a long-standing favourite in aromatherapy, perfumery and seasonal fragrance blends.
In aromatherapy, Nutmeg is often used in small amounts to add warmth to diffuser blends and massage oils, helping create a comforting, grounding atmosphere.
Its distinctive spicy-warm character also makes Nutmeg a popular ingredient in perfumes, colognes, candles and seasonal home fragrance creations, as well as natural cleaning and potpourri blends.

Nutmeg's warm-spicy character works as a heart note in oriental and gourmand accords — but its IFRA limits are among the tightest in this collection (as low as 0.02% in many personal-care categories), so use extremely sparingly and check the category limit table carefully before formulating.
Skincare & Massage Oil Inclusion Rate
Given both the tight IFRA restriction and the independently-reported toxicological caution above, keep Nutmeg to a bare trace (well under 0.1%) in any leave-on skincare or massage formulation, or consider omitting it from leave-on products entirely.
