Evening Primrose Oil
Evening Primrose Oil
Evening Primrose Oil (High-GLA Carrier Oil)
Evening Primrose Oil is a cold-pressed carrier oil genuinely rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid, alongside linoleic acid. It has a long history of traditional use for soothing dry, irritated skin, including skin prone to eczema — these are traditional uses rather than medically proven treatments, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
Its light, fast-absorbing texture makes it a popular addition to facial moisturisers, hair treatments and massage blends. It's often fortified into other carrier oils in small amounts, and is a versatile ingredient in soap making, bath products and cosmetic formulations.
Apply a few drops directly to skin, massaging gently until absorbed, or use as a hair treatment. For formulations, blend at 5–15% into soaps, creams or massage oils. Test small batches to perfect your recipe.
Botanical Name: Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil.
Safety information: generally well tolerated on normal skin. Its high polyunsaturated fat content makes it prone to oxidation — use within 6–12 months of opening and store in a cool, dark, airtight container, refrigerated where possible. A patch test is recommended before first use, particularly for sensitive skin — see the Safety Data Sheet and Ingredient & Allergen Statement in the Product Documents section below for full detail.
