Candle Wicks Tabbed CDN-24 x 20
Candle Wicks Tabbed CDN-24 x 20
CDN 24 Candle Wicks x 20 (Pre-Tabbed Cotton Wicks for Container Candles)
Our CDN 24 pre-tabbed candle wicks are made for container candles in soy and other natural waxes. They are a flat-braid wick of cotton and paper filament, coated for use with natural waxes, and each one comes with the tab already attached, so you can go straight from the pack to the jar.
CDN 24 suits candles about 90–95 mm in diameter. Wax type, fragrance load, colour and container shape all affect how a wick burns, so treat the size guide as a starting point and always run a burn test.

How to Use
- Measure your container. Measure the inside diameter of the jar and choose the CDN size whose range covers it. See the size guide below.
- Fix the wick. Secure the tab to the centre of the base of the jar with a wick stickum or a dab of hot glue.
- Hold it straight. Keep the wick centred and upright while you pour, using a wick holder across the top of the jar.
- Pour. Pour your wax at its recommended pouring temperature and let the candle set undisturbed.
- Trim. Once the wax has set, trim the wick to about 6 mm before the first burn.
- Burn test. Burn the candle fully, in the way a customer would, and check the flame, the melt pool and the soot. Move up or down a size if needed.
CDN Wick Size Guide ▼
Match your candle's inside diameter to the range below. This is a guide only, so test.
| Wick | Suggested candle diameter |
|---|---|
| CDN 7 | 45–50 mm |
| CDN 10 | 55–60 mm |
| CDN 12 | 60–65 mm |
| CDN 14 | 65–70 mm |
| CDN 18 | 75–80 mm |

| CDN 24 | 90–95 mm |
| CDN 26 | 90–100 mm |
| CDN 28 | 95–105 mm |
Between two sizes, start with the smaller and test, then move up if the melt pool is too shallow.
Tips & Troubleshooting ▼
| What you see | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Tunnelling or a shallow melt pool | Wick too small for the jar | Move up one CDN size |
| Large flame, soot or a mushrooming wick | Wick too large, or the wick is too long | Move down a size and trim to about 6 mm |
| Flame drowns or keeps going out | Wick too small, or too much fragrance or dye | Move up a size, or reduce the fragrance or dye |
| Wick leaning or off-centre | Not held in place while the wax set | Use a wick holder and a stickum |
| Different result in a new wax | Every wax and fragrance burns differently | Test again with each new combination |
Safety & Selling Your Products ▼
Wicks are for candle making. Keep out of reach of children. Molten wax can burn badly: never heat it over a direct flame, never leave it unattended and do not use water on a wax fire. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep candles away from children, pets, draughts and anything flammable. Trim the wick before each burn and stop using a candle when about 10 mm of wax is left in the container.
Burn test every combination of wax, fragrance, dye and container before you sell or gift candles, because small changes can change how a wick performs.

Frequently Asked Questions ▼
What size CDN wick do I need?
Measure the inside diameter of your jar and match it to the size guide. CDN 24 suits candles about 90–95 mm across. Always burn test.
Are the wicks pre-tabbed?
Yes. Each wick comes with the tab already attached.
How many wicks are in a pack?
20 wicks, each 150 mm long.
What waxes are they for?
They are coated for use with natural waxes and suit soy wax and natural wax blends in container candles.
Are they lead and zinc free?
Yes.
Can I cut them shorter?
Yes. The 150 mm length can be trimmed to suit shorter containers, and you should trim the wick before each burn anyway.
Can I double wick a large candle?
Many makers do, but it needs its own testing. Start by burn testing a size or two smaller than a single wick and adjust.
Do I need to burn test?
Yes. Fragrance load, dye, wax and container all change wick performance, so burn test before selling or gifting.
