Benzoin Essential Oil (Styrax benzoin)

Benzoin (Styrax benzoin) has a warm, balsamic fragrance that's been treasured across cultures for centuries, in both incense and traditional medicine — and it remains a valued base note in perfumery today.

It's especially useful in blends for circulatory and joint complaints, such as poor circulation, arthritis and rheumatism, where its warming, comforting effect stands out.

As an expectorant, benzoin is well suited to inhalation for respiratory conditions like bronchitis, colds and flu — try it in a vaporiser alongside other expectorant oils such as eucalyptus.

Its warm, creamy fragrance is also comforting when you're feeling anxious, stressed, tense, worried or lonely, and it makes a pleasing base note in homemade blends.
