DIY Pumice Stones - How to make your own exfoliating stones

Are you sick of buying pumice stones just for them to break? Have a go at making your very own with this simple guide. These DIY exfoliating stones can be used to smooth rough skin (like heels, elbows, or even hands). Made out of all natural ingredients and completely customisable.

Ingredients:

- 1 cup clay powder (Kaolin or Bentonite)

- 1/4 cup pumice powder - Fine or Medium depending on exfoliation requirements

- 1/4 cup water (or use hydrosol for added benefits)

- 1 tsp carrier oil (sweet almond, jojoba, or even olive oil)

- 5-10 drops essential oils (optional)

- Silicone Mold

Method:

1.) Mix together all dry ingredients in a bowl and stir well.

2.) Slowly pour and mix in your wet ingredients to create a thick dough.

3.) Press your mixture into your silicone mold. Use wet fingers or the back of a spoon to smooth the tops.

4.) Let air dry in a warm dry place for 24-48 hours. OR Dehydrate in the oven on low for 2-3 hours (150F / 65C).

5.) Once they are completely hard you are ready to umold and store in a dry place.

To use:

- Wet the stone and rub gently on damp skin in circular motions.

- Rinse and moisturise after use.

- Ensure you allow the stone to dry completely between uses
