Olive Oil Pomace
Olive Oil Pomace
Olive Oil Pomace
Olive Oil Pomace is a solvent-extracted, refined olive oil, popular as a versatile and cost-effective base for skincare and, especially, soap-making.
Unlike cold-pressed extra-virgin olive oil, pomace oil is extracted from the olive pulp, pit and skin left over after pressing, then refined to remove most of its natural colour and scent. This makes it well suited to formulations where a strong olive smell or deep green colour isn't wanted. It is high in oleic acid, which supports its stability and conditioning properties, and has a naturally high level of unsaponifiables, which helps speed up trace time in cold-process soap-making.
Apply directly to skin as a moisturiser, or use as a soap-making base. For formulations, blend at 20–50% into soap bases or creams to boost moisturising properties and stability; test small batches first, noting that its unsaponifiable content can speed up trace time.
Botanical Name: Olea europaea (Olive) Pomace Oil.
Safety information: generally well tolerated on all skin types. As with any natural oil, a small number of people may experience individual sensitivity. A patch test is recommended before first use — see the Safety Data Sheet and Ingredient & Allergen Statement in the Product Documents section below for full detail.
