Microcrystalline Wax is a durable petroleum-based wax with a higher melting point and a more flexible structure than standard paraffin wax. Its plastic-like consistency allows it to hold detailed shapes and textures, making it ideal for specialty candle applications such as dipped and carved candles.

This wax is commonly used where strength and flexibility are important. It helps candles maintain their shape while also improving durability and resistance to cracking. Microcrystalline wax is also frequently used as an additive in candle blends to improve binding, flexibility and overall performance.

Key Features

High melting point wax ideal for specialty candle making
Excellent for dipped and carved candles
Flexible structure that holds shape and texture well
Helps improve durability and reduce cracking
Often used as an additive to strengthen wax blends

Product Information

Wax Type: Microcrystalline Wax
Appearance: Light Pink solid wax
Texture: Flexible and slightly sticky compared to paraffin
Common Uses: Carved candles, dipped candles, wax blends and specialty candle designs

Usage Notes

Microcrystalline wax melts at a higher temperature than most candle waxes and should be heated slowly using controlled heat. It can be used on its own for specialty candles or blended with other waxes such as paraffin, soy or palm wax to improve flexibility and structure.

When used in blends, small percentages are typically added to improve adhesion, durability and surface finish. As with all candle making materials, testing is recommended to determine the best blend ratios and working temperatures for your specific application.
