RSPO Certified: YES
Uses: Pillars & Volvites
Fragrance Load: 10-12%
Fragrance Temperature: 75-80°C
Pour Temperature: 85-90°C
Melt Point: 60°C
Prior to adding your desired fragrance, it is recommended to heat the wax to the suggested temperature. Once you have added the fragrance, stir for a minimum of 2 minutes and wait for the wax to reach the recommended pouring temperature before pouring into your jar. Feel free to experiment with the desired percentage of blended soy and palm.
- Do not pour below 65 °C as no crystals will be evident
- Stir when necessary to release air trapped in the cavity at the top of the wax in the mould
- Break hardened wax on the wax surface to facilitate stirring and topping up if necessary
Please note, there may seem to be conflicting information above regarding the pour temperature for adding fragrance to this palm wax. However, this is not an error. In order to achieve the desired crystallizing effect, palm wax does require a higher pour temperature (a chemistry lesson in itself). However, it is recommended to add fragrances at lower temperatures, typically around 70-75°C, to prevent the loss of top notes and potency due to boiling off.
As an expert in the industry, it is essential to recognize the challenge of finding a balance between conflicting ideals when working with Feathering Palm Wax. When exposed to temperatures above 85C, the fragrance in our products may lose some of their top notes if stored for an extended period of time. One approach to achieving a suitable equilibrium is to pour the scented wax at a high temperature of 90C, but avoid leaving it at that temperature for too long before adding the fragrance and pouring. Keep in mind that each fragrance is unique, so it is recommended to experiment with adding the fragrance at a lower temperature, around 75 degrees, then gradually increasing the temperature to 90C before pouring. Ultimately, proper balance is crucial in producing high-quality, fragranced pillar candles from palm wax, and through testing and practice, this can be achieved.
DISCLAIMER: Please note the effects of feathering palm won't show properly in white candles. It is best to use a candle dye to enhance the effects created.
